Poverty 2 Power

Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.*

Poverty can be defined in many ways, but one definition is ‘the condition of lacking basic human needs such as nutrition, clean water, health care, clothing, and shelter because of the inability to afford them.’

Extreme poverty, where people live each day exposed to the life threatening realities of disease, starvation and conflict is unacceptable. But what can be done? There have been many well-intentioned initiatives, and billions of dollars spent in an effort to end extreme poverty.

We cannot become apathetic about a reality affecting half the world’s population.

I believe we must harness the best within all of us — our individual and collective experiences, creativity, education, and passions — if we want to see increased equality.

I will use this space to post information about efforts to move people from poverty to power — whether they are initiatives by governments, businesses or individual people.

Please feel free to send me information about cool ideas you hear about.
