The crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan continues today, with an increasing urgency mounting as refugees and other internally displaced people face starvation and disease. Aid workers in the region have continued to ask for international help as the food shortage continues throughout the rainy season, which has made access to the camps more difficult. Due to the conflicts long duration, IDP's have been unable to return to their villages or establish areas for cultivation. This has served to decrease the already scarce food supply leaving 2.5 million internally displaced people with little access to food.
